I think it's really all about personal preference.

I prefer the layouts that Wordpress offers, and I find it easier to use than Blogger. I think you should go with what you know and like. Maybe create a free blog on Wordpress.com and see how you feel about the dashboard first, before deciding to make the switch. I've had both a free blog and a .com using the Wordpress software and haven't found any difference between the two, so I think checking out the free version would give you a good idea of what it's like.

It really all comes down to preference though. :)

I've blogged on both, and they both serve their purposes. When it comes to professional blogging, I like WordPress better.

The biggest reason I blog on WordPress instead of Blogger isn't because of the dashboard or features, but because I own my blog, not Google. When you blog with Blogger, it can be shut down at any time, with out any notice.

I recently did a post on why I like WordPress better, you can check it out, if you'd like.

Wordpress is open source, you "own" your house, there are thousands of plugins, you can add any feature or functionality that you wish. Blogger is limited to customizations, which one is better ? Depends on your needs, but I will always recommend Wordpress over Blogger.

I have blogs on both Blogger and Wordpress.

But I've recently moved several of my blogs back to Blogger! I know this is not done often, but I think sometimes Wordpress is overrated.

I love the ease of Blogger.

In answer to your question: it very much depends on how good you are with technical blogging stuff. I you are then by all means move to Wordpress. But if not, I think Blogger is great!

Personally, I find having to learn cPanel in order to be self hosted is a pain! I tried to make the switch but it was insane! I was able to get a refund (literally contacted the host company within 30 mins of purchasing the self hosting package). Before I switch, I need someone to teach me all that back door stuff involved with self hosting. Or, pay someone to switch it for me then be there as a guide whenever I have a question.

I know that everyone recommend moving to Wordpress, but be careful.

I did, but I recently moved several of my blog back to Blogger. Wordpress is not easy. For example: with Blogger if you install a theme it looks like the demo. But with Wordpress it defnitely doesn't. You have to do a lot of difficult stuff to get it to look pretty.

I definitely like Blogger better. Though I also still have several blogs on Wordpress.org.

Thanks for that! I'll definitely check it out!

I've been with Blogger since Aug 2008 when I started blogging. While I like it, I'd love to have more options that I know WP offers.
