What Do You Pack In Your Kids Lunchbox?
« on: Jan 05, 2012 @ 10:58 AM »
I'm trying to get healthy, creative and think outside the usual pre-packaged lunch fair. So I'd love to hear what you pack in your kids lunches. What's easy? What gets eaten? What are your kids favs? What are your favs?

My daughter has an Oots lunch box and she is alway eager to fill all the little compartments but  wants to fill them with packaged granola bars and fruit snacks. That's what I grew up on for lunch so it's hard to break away.

I pack my daughters lunch every day, in a really neat lunch box called Planetbox. Its a bento box. It makes it more fun and organized. She is a really easy eater, she loves her fruits and veggies so it isn't hard to pack her healthy options. I do make her food fun and colorful. Here is the link to my blog, you can check out my, "what's in your lunchbox feature" there are pictures and descriptions of what I pack. I will be featured also, in a magazine for them in the next couple of months, so you can catch me there too :)

Tia holy cow!  That's a LOT of lunch pictures!  LOL  I am getting both my kids Bento boxes this upcoming year.  Actually I should get to ordering them now.  Your posts are going to help me immensely!  Thanks so much!

I usually make my kids sandwiches or pitas stuffed with turkey and cheese and lettuce and sides i usually pack 2/3 of the following:pickles, cucumbers and carrots (with hummus), veggie sticks, whole grain goldfish, pita chips, strawberries, watermelon, grapes.

Sometimes the kids rather have no sandwich and just snacks so I make sure to pack something more filling like hummus, almonds, greek yogurt or apple with peanut butter.

Pickles are great, my kids are obsessed with the refrigerated Claussen pickles. Packing them in one of those soft coolers with other cold items (ice, drinks etc.) is a great way to keep them crisp and fresh.

I totally forgot about pita bread! I used to love that as a kid. My kids are stuck in a wonder bread phase so could use a fun alternative.
