What's not working for you?
« on: May 27, 2016 @ 05:41 PM »
I'm looking for some helpful feedback on my blog.  I noticed that a lot of my readership has been slowing down recently, and was wondering what may be causing it.  If someone would be so good as to tell me what about the blog might not be working, I would be most appreciative.  Specifically, I would like to know about:

  • Content
    Navigation ease
    Readability
    Widgets
    Overall impressions

Thanks so much in advance!

so, its important to understand that you have a limited time to capture the interest of a visitor.

The top half of your site is known as 'above the fold' this needs to be where your content is. Your visitor needs to see
content as soon as they land on your site.

I like that you have limited options at the top, the more your visitor has to think where to go next the more that back button  looks tempting

Personally I'd host my own domain and have a nice theme that's fast and mobile friendly.

Best of luck Alli

Thanks for your response, PMBS!   :)
As far as "above the fold" is concerned: What content should be visible there as opposed to what actually is on my site?
In regards to capturing a visitor, what about my site does and doesn't work to this end?
TIA

I appreciate taking time to look at my site and commenting your opinions!    :)

above the fold I see your pic and four links.

people have to scroll down to see the other picture links.

Images and text or video should greet your visitors as soon as they land on your site.

as for the aesthetics, are you going for a dark looking site?

let me know if i can help

Alli,

I agree. Your site looks good, but there are somethings that would need to be moved around a bit.

For example, if you would be able to move the photos that correspond to your posts to the right of your picture that would be great!

Another suggestion would be to have the title of the post either on the photo or below it to show your readers what they are going to read. It makes it hard to know what kind of post you going to without a title present.

I agree that you have seconds to impress a reader and grab their attention. I love how the posts are listed, but when you go to a blog you want to see content right away.

Your links at the top also go to so many different pages and posts. I would try to narrow them down. Either just link to the categories or a few of your favorite posts.

I hope this helps. Let me know if I can help you any more.
