A better refrigerator child-lock
« on: Nov 07, 2013 @ 11:40 AM »
Have you used a refrigerator child-lock only to have it fail leaving foam adhesive attached to the refrigerator?  I absolutely hate it.  So much so that I've actually wrapped a tie-down strap around the fridge and used that instead.

As they say necessity is the mother of invention, so I've been working on a better way to secure the fridge against the kids.

The idea is to use 2 strong rare-earth magnets to secure a strap with a latch.  I've started a campaign on hoping that they will decide the idea should be commercially produced.  Please give it a vote if you like the magnetic fridge lock idea.  Even if they choose not to pursue it, I'll be setting up an Etsy store to sale them since currently they are handmade.

Has anyone come up with another approach to securing the fridge against toddlers?  Thanks!
