Quick Way to Drop Pounds Before That Big Event!

Hey girls, thought I'd share a diet I tried on Pinterest. I lost 4 pounds in 3 days! I weighed 130 when I did this diet, so if you weigh more than that, I'm willing to bet you'd lose even more. Go to my blog for more details.

Hi Sarah,

I'm thankful that you shared this diet routine. After, having a vacation I think I gained so much pounds from my previous weight. I need to diet to lose some pounds and I'm going to try this one.

I've actually done this, or a slight variation, a few times. It goes under several names, Mayo Clinic Diet (may not be actually associated with the Mayo Clinic though), 3-Day Diet, Cleavland Clinic Diet, 3 Day Cardiac Diet, etc. I remember seeing a printout of this on my parents fridge when I was a kid so it's one that has been around for a very long time.

That's a quick and easy diet. If I remember correctly I would lose 3 or 4 pounds. Which is not bad for 3 days on a diet that lets you have ice cream.

Day 1
Breakfast:
1 Cup black coffee or tea
Grapefruit or cup fresh squeezed juice
1 Slice toast
1 Teaspoon peanut butter

Lunch:
Cup plain tuna
1 Slice toast
1 Cup black coffee or tea

Dinner:
2 Slices any kind of meat (3 oz.)
1 Cup string beans
1 Cup carrots or beets
1 Small apple
1 Cup Vanilla ice cream

Day 2
Breakfast:
1 Cup black coffee or tea
1 Hard boiled egg
1 Slice toast
Banana

Lunch:
1 Cup cottage cheese or cup plain tuna
5 Saltine crackers (soda crackers)

Dinner:
1 Plain hot dogs (no buns)
1 Cup broccoli or cabbage
1 Cup carrots or turnips
Banana
Cup Vanilla ice cream

Day 3
Breakfast:
1 Cup black coffee or tea
5 Saltine crackers
1 Slice cheddar cheese (1 ounce)
1 Small apple

Lunch:
1 Hard boiled egg
1 Slice toast
1 Cup black coffee or tea

Dinner:
1 Cup plain tuna
1 Cup carrots or beets
1 Cup cauliflower or green-leaf vegetables
1 Cup cantaloupe
Cup Vanilla ice cream

Thanks for sharing. I remember my mother in law doing this diet several years ago. I was thinking about it the other day.
Life was much simpler when I had ALL of the answers and NONE of the questions!

I'll probably give this one a go soon. I'm on my 5th week of atkins so 3 days sounds like a cinch. Or maybe just a good maintence plan to do from time to time and a good reminder about portion control.
