Getting healthy after baby
« on: Dec 04, 2014 @ 06:11 PM »
I am down to my pre-pregnancy weight!! yay!! But not really. I didn't gain that much weight while I was pregnant. I was so sick I only gained about 11 pounds. That being said, I am still overweight and I would like to loose about 40 more pounds. This is one of the many reasons I have started a blog. I thought if I wrote about my weight loss it would make me accountable for my weight loss and make me stick to it. I am a stay at home mom and I thought for sure I would have time to work out, but it never fails, the baby is up when I get up no matter what time. Also as a new mom I always feel like I am sleep deprived and exhausted, even though my baby sleeps through the night. I have a hard time sleeping and I hear every noise at night now.

I post about my weight loss goals and accomplishments every week.

I would like to know what you suggest doing. I do not have trouble with eating healthy. My issue is getting motivated to get up in the morning to walk on the treadmill. I do have a treadmill so I do not have to go to the gym. What do you do that gets you motivated?

Hey there mommy! :)

Just seeing my post-pregnancy flabs is enough to keep me motivated to get up and work out. Lol! Seriously though, it's about having a positive mindset. I don't just think of it as a need or a chore I have to do but also a way of life :)

Thank you!! I honestly think it is the weather. When it was warm out I would actually walk on the trail close to our house. It was a way for me and the baby to get out of the house. Then when it started getting cold, the treadmill just didn't seem like as much fun!! On the trails I would see people, on the treadmill I stare at the wall or watch netflix. Thank you for your help!!

Same here. Trying to reach weight loss goals. Post baby #2 it taken 4 years to drop 40 pounds. What's helped are the following: portion control, substituting the junk for healthy choices, finding a fitness routine that is fun eg dancing, kickboxing, swimming. Educating myself by reading about fitness and nutrition has helped me to understand how my body works. I try to give myself grace and not compare myself to anyone else because that can steal my joy. Having a goal helps a lot eg signing up for 5K. Asking for friends to join me in this journey has been instrumental in helping to stay motivated.  Hope this helps. And if all else fails remember you are worth it! Don't give up. Persevere and you will reach your goal.

I've just realized that my weight has increased significantly. Life has been so tough especially after my second baby that I completely forgot about myself.
As they say it's better late than never so I've just started my weight reducing plan that includes healthy diet, cutting all unhealthy ones and exercise regularly. It's just a start but I'm already feeling much better about myself. Very impressed with your positive approach and making a blog is really a good idea to keep yourself motivated. Best of Luck.
