I'm a new stay at home dad, and don't really have much time to get out much. So at first I was thinking, netflix and tv all day.

But tbh, that got boring really fast..and found that my brain was going numb.

So...instead of watching netflix all day and playing games, I learned how to code and write websites. I've always wanted to learn how to code but was always too impatient and never had a dedicated time/discipline to just sit down and do it. Btw...coding is hard and frustrating...however, after months and months of tinkering away, I finally finished my first full functional website. Everything from the javascript, to the css, to the php, to even the server management (sorry...i'm going full geek mode).

It's been a lot of reading, a lot of trial and error, and a lot of hair pulling. But the cool thing is that who knows, maybe if I can keep it up, I'll get pretty good at it, and maybe make it into a "second career."

Anyway, if you're are looking for something fun/cool to do, I totally encourage you to learn how to code. It makes a huge difference on the design on your blog. And it's a job that you can actually do from home. I have a few friends that code/work remotely from home with the kids.

So that's my story... :)

oh...almost forgot. If you want to check out my site, I would love to get some feedback on it:

basically, it's a site that let's you vote on who is the better catch within the relationship. The idea is that once I get enough votes, I want to write articles about relative attractiveness as correlated with gender, age, reputation, race, etc...anyway, thanks again for letting me share!

I love this! Seriously!

I've never been the most technically inclined person, even though stereotype would suggest that I should be (Millennial here). However, starting my own Blog has open up so many different doors for me; and I have learned so much over the last 4 months alone. So, I totally get what you're saying.

Good luck and nice work! :)

This is such a great post! Thank you for sharing. It is great encouragement.

Your site is fun. Clever name too. I created and ran a site years ago called Dud Or Stud. It was fun. You'd rate pictures of members (very similar to your set up) and after voting you could see their profile. I tweaked it and beefed it up to become a fun and interactive dating site. It had a good click through rate. This was ages ago and would of been a really fun app these days. I should of kept that one going. But like yours, it was really to learn more coding so I didn't keep it going and moved on to other projects.

Are you planning on adding to it or keeping it at just polls?
