Hello, Everyone. My name is Michelle and I'm a working mom with six children (split between two households). I worked hard my whole life and earned a Masters Degree. Instead of the fancy job I expected, I earned over $85k in student loans, a failed marriage, and was laid off from my job.
I ended up having to let my four older children live with my ex-husband (who is one of my best friends, fortunately) and accepting a $10/hour job. When I was laid off from that job, fate intervened and I ended up as an Office Manager at a Direct Cremation society. As challenging as the journey was, I ended up being where I was meant to be.
Throughout my life I faced many challenging obstacles, and some days were so hard I didn't want to go on. I felt like a failure. One day I realized that I didn't want to be a failure anymore. I needed a creative outlet, and I wanted to help other moms who needed support. I'd wanted to create a blog for so many years I can't count. I used to visit "Top Mommy Blogs" all the time and dreamed of the day I would become a member. When I received the email that I'd been approved, I actually started crying.
My main goal is to help other moms (and hopefully make them laugh), but I do hope to start making enough money so our family can buy our own home. Right now we live with my MIL in a mobile home with no central heating/air (in Central Florida). We have one mobile A/C, so my husband, two kids, and I live in one room.
My blog www.highheelsandhomework.com
is geared towards working moms searching for balance, but I don't think I would ever quit my job (though my motto is "never say never"). I'm going back to school to earn a Funeral Services degree so I can help families through the most difficult times of their lives.
I'm so happy to be here and I can't wait to learn from you all.
