Trying to take my blog to the next level
« on: May 13, 2014 @ 08:23 PM »
Hello! My name is Karen and I have been writing my blog called Musings of a non-scrapbooking SAHM for a few years.  I have a lot of fun laughing about the insanity of being a SAHM to the little buggers.

I am trying to take my blog to the next level, get it out there, get noticed, etc. but I am overwhelmed about where to go / what to do next!

I would love any advice from more seasoned bloggers.

Greetings Karen! It's an exciting time when you want to take your writings to the next level, isn't it? Congrats on taking that step.

While my mommy blog is still new and fresh I have another blog that I've used for many years. I found my readership was down for a very long time then I noticed more and more followers. What I did was checked my stats and see where the links were coming from. From there I kind of thought about how to 'market' myself.

I am apart of a few forums apart from clicks from blogs I'm featured on a lot of my viewers were coming from the forums. So from there I learned that keeping my blog visible to them while on the forums upped my readership.

Lately I've gone a step further, that was harder for me just because I've never shared my blogs so publicly. I post on facebook. This is where I do feel you have to be careful, you don't want your family and friends to get notifications with every post you make on your blog. I know I've hidden a few friends who I felt were being over the top with sharing their businesses and or blog posts. It got to a point where I'd think "Listen I know where your blog is, if I want to read it I'll go to the link I've saved." It actually turned me off to viewing their blog.  So I pick one post about every 2 months that I feel my family and friends can relate to and post that.

Sorry for the long drawn out post.

First step for me was checking those stats to see where my readers were finding me then trying to market towards that crowd a bit more. Then the next pending on your comfort level would be Facebook.

Another great place to market your blog is pinterest. If you do some DIY, crafts with your kids. Pin your own posts.
