Misplaced Jersey Girl Checkin' in
« on: Feb 22, 2011 @ 12:19 PM »
Hi. I'm excited to stop by and meet many of you. I'm a blogger (who happens to be a mommy and many other things) who writes about everything from married life to mommyhood and coping with moving from the Northeast to the South.

Hope you can stop in and say hi.

Hi Jersey Girl!

I'm new here too.  I wanted to reply because I also once moved from the northeast to the south, and it was wonderful!  Where are you moving to, or have you moved to?  I was born and raised in MD, and then spent most of my adult life in FL.  I now live in NC. The locals call us "halfbacks", because we move south, and then move halfway back.

Good luck!

I've been in Fl now for 5 years. To be honest, I hate it but stuck here indefinitely. Once a city girl - always a city girl. I've heard that term halfbacks before. lol.

I moved from a pretty rural area to the city and I don't think I could move out of the city and survive at this point. Oh, public transit, I love you so! Good job coping with with no living in your preferred area.

When I first moved to Orlando, it was much smaller, sweeter.  We were surrounded by nature... the snowy egrets and great blue herons everywhere!  Then the population boomed, cookie cutter houses popped up, the gangs moved in, and the wildlife moved out.  We had to leave when we started witnessing drug deals in front our apartment, and even found an abandoned gun in the parking lot, right next to our car!  I'm sort of a country girl, that needs to live on the edge of a city.
