Is Your Listing Still Showing Zero Votes?
« on: Dec 02, 2010 @ 08:51 AM »
So you've checked out this FAQ:
http://www.topmommyblogs.com/info/contact_us.html#why-votes-arent-showing

And you've logged in to check your stats that you are sure should be showing at least one vote in but your listing is still not ranked or showing activity?

Here is something with the new system that may be causing the problem....

The new TMB system tracks votes in from your REGISTERED blog and will only recognize 300 level redirects if your forwarding from one URL to another (not framesets, iframes meta-refresh, etc). You have to enter/update the exact URL & make sure that it's using a 300 level redirect. For example:

http://www.myblog.com is not the same as http://myblog.blogspot.com

If your not sure how your domain name is being redirect, here is a handy tool to tell you: http://www.internetofficer.com/seo-tool/redirect-check/

If you test your URL and you see something like this: This page contains frames (introduced by a FRAME tag) that means the way your blog is being redirected/forwarded is not being picked up. In this case, use your original blog URL instead of the domain name you registered or use a 301 redirect instead of a frameset which is better for your SEO anyway.

We should check your blog/account because I want to encourage all members to start using http://www.topmommyblogs.com/ instead of the unique voting URL.

When the updates are officially done, the old program will be removed and the unique voting codes, which are part of the old program, may no longer work!!

The unique voting code is just being forwarded to the new home page so unless there is a bug, which code you use now shouldn't work any differently.

Could you switch it back to http://www.topmommyblogs.com/ for me so I can test it? I can see real time stats better than members so it may have just been an issue of waiting for a site update. Or it could be a bug or a specific account issue.

Hi, thank you for pointing this out to me on Twitter... I had not seen it yet. I'm switching the code in a sec.

Glad it's working (from twitter reply).

Most likely that was a case of not being able to see the stats instantly vs the old code working but the new one not. All the old codes are just being forwarded to http://www.topmommyblogs.com/ so all members can safely update links on their blogs to keep up to date.
