Posting local event information and etiquette

Hey all...

I have a blog (www.yourchildsmother.blogspot.com) and one of the things I want to do is to list local events throughout my city and local areas for local families. 

I have a page and email address for people to submit information but I haven't had any hits so far.  There is a local magazine that lists EVERYTHING family oriented in the city and surround areas.  Is it okay to pull from that magazine as long as I cite it underneath the post with (for ex. - "courtesy of ABC Magazine") and attach the link to the magazine and the place that is providing the event?

I really want to get started on doing that because not only is it helpful for my local readers but also for myself (gives me ideas of places to go and things to do with my little one).
