E-mail Subscribers?? I'm new please help!
« on: Nov 08, 2014 @ 11:23 AM »
Hello,

So I'm trying to figure out what kind of e-mail subscription service to use (that is Free - that is a key part!) I am currently using the wordpress one - but sometimes I post a couple times a day and I don't want to end up appearing 'spammy' to my subscribers. I know wordpress sends one e-mail for each individual post so I would love one that can send the 'days' worth of posts (or even a couple days) all in one email rather than individual ones.

I had a "subscribe2" widget from wordpress that i was using but then I was told that I needed to have an 'unsubscribe' button on the e-mails sent out and that widget didn't allow for that.

Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Hi! I really like mailchimp. You can still send out an RSS feed, but schedule it to only send once a day, or every couple of days. It is free for your first 1000 subscribers.

Thank you so much!! I will look at it right now!

I have heard good things about Mail Chimp, and that seems to be the most popular choice and it is free as long as you have fewer than 2,000 subscribers. However, I also looked at other services and started using Mad Mimi based on some reviews I saw on both services. Mad Mimi also has a free plan, this one for up to 2,500 subscribers. I really like them and creating your own custom emails is great! I would suggest looking at reviews for both of these and see which fits your style better.

Let me know when you make the change for your email list and I will sign up too!

I'm also using MailChimp service, we can have up to 2,000 subs for free. I've never heard about  Mad Mimi, I will go and check it out

Based on these posts, I signed up for MailChimp a week ago. I became my first subscriber, using another personal email address. I wanted to see what the emails looked like. I'm sure glad I did, because on my next blog post, the email notification came out, and there was my PERSONAL home address at the bottom of the email for all subscribers to see! I was horrified but super glad I subscribed to my own email list. Fortunately, I opted for Bluehost's enhanced privacy when I bought my domain so I could use their mailing address for things like this. I logged back in to MailChimp and updated my address to Bluehost's address. Problem resolved. Word of caution!

Best of luck,

Shellie
