Blog Stats
« on: Aug 15, 2013 @ 08:13 PM »
As a new mommy blogger, what sort of stats are good in the beginning and good numbers to strive for? I get around 100 page views per day right now, and am wondering if that's good for the first few months?

That's great! And good for you to be thinking about this now. As you grow, you'll use your stats as a checklist for areas you can improve, lose or expand.

Keywords are interesting. It's good to see what search terms are bringing people to your site. Odd search terms can make for a fun post too!

Unique vs return visits are something to look at. It's fun to get new visitors but for a blog, it's even better to get repeated visitors.

Another think to check out, if your stats have it, is your bounce rate. That will show you how long someone is staying on your site. Don't let that # scare you but improving your bounce rate can be something you work on down the road. It's not something to focus now, while your developing and finding your rhythm but one to keep on your radar.

Thanks, Karen! Yesterday someone found my blog by searching "what to do if your legs are sore". You have to wonder how some of those get through. Too funny.

Can't the bounce rate be deceiving sometimes since it will show 100% if they only stayed on one page? (...and lots of returning readers will only read the recent post?) And it goes down if they click through to more pages, right?

I'm interested to know how many visits and page views a day other blogs get that have been around for 6 months, 1 year, 2 years... etc. to see if I'm on a good track so far. I feel like it's good and I know slow and steady is best for quality followers! :)

Are they all visits from real people or spam sites? I get a lot of visits from vampirestats or whatever it is, but not nearly that many views from real people
