earning $ for blogging
« on: Aug 08, 2012 @ 11:45 PM »
Hi

I have seen several people mention that they earn money for blogging or for reading other peoples blogs in various comments.  I was just wondering how that worked.  Or what you didto get hooked into that?

Thanks for any tips or feed backs.  I mostly blog for fun.  But am a stay at home mom and full time college student and homeschool parent but i am sure my husband would love if i could earn a little bit of income.

They don't pay you for blogging, but for people clicking on the ads (and some experts say it's not a wise idea to ask your friends to click like maniacs, since google can say these are unvalid clicks since they come from a same IP adress)

It takes some time, but you can earn a few bucks if you have decent traffic. For example, it took me 2 years with my first page (not my blog, but the other page which is not in English) to earn something, but I was so happy when it happened.

Now I'm trying to achieve it wiht my blog, too

So how do you find people that will pay you for their ad being clicked on? I am still not clear how that happens?

Thanks.

Unfortunately, there is no magic formula for it. I know it sounds like a phrase but really, "a good content is the king" - the more quality texts you have (and it does take some time for it), the more people we'll find you via search engines. You can invest a few bucks in a google adwords (so that the advert for your blog shows up on other sites/blogs). Try labeling your posts with keywords.
Participating in linky parties, having a FB page for a blog, pinning your own images to Pinterest, and all the other social media that suit best to your interests - all that can drive some traffic (and therefore, possible clicks) to your blog.

But then again, it does take some time, it can't be done overnight.

If I'm being transparent, I only make three cents a day, and that's having a blog that I've recently started putting attention to at the beginning of the year :)

An easy way to start, is to sign up for google adsense. They will give you code to display ads on your page, and you will make $ if someone clicks. It will probably start out small, but every 3 cents a day can make a difference!

Sponsored posts, Side bar ads, and marketing companies.  Like someone mentioned above content is king.  Make sure you have found your niche and your only posting quality content.  People will start contacting you.  I don't solicit companies or products.  They actually contact me.  Just focus on your content and your blog design and it will happen.  There are also great companies that you can start with for product reviews.  I love Tomoson they have a little of everything. :) I hope that helps.

I agree to find companies with your interests. It seems a lot of the giveaway sights are good once you are an established blogger. I am still a little bit of a newbie. For me kids clothes are big. I earn money from blogging about tea collection or gymboree; which my kids wear. And also, re-selling my kids clothes. Just wrote an article on how to make $ with tea collection: http://www.sandiegomom2.com/love-tea-collection-clothes-make/

Today there are 2 major blog monetizing systems offered 1. ads and 2. donate me buttons...and both considered non popular among visitors these days due to their too commercial or too non personalized tools...but there is some new tools exists on the market already moms not aware of and may help them to get out more earnings from their contents, ideas and sharing activities and it's called coffifee button system...they have lots of nice features, global coverage, multilingual services and most importantly they are ad free and inspiring both content creators and visitors for the usage...it may help to fulfill some empty spaces on moms' blog and wallets...:)

I do a lot of sponsored blogging and am charging $100-$400 per post but started out just accepting freebies and then charged $50, then $75 and so on. I work with a ton of 3rd party sites and have done work for some great brands through them. I wrote a post specifically about this topic recently with a list of my fave sites that I've made money through whether for blogging or social media. If you want to check it out it's http://www.stylishlysocial.com/2014/10/15/make-money-blogging/. Hope that helps a little :)

I only make a penny a day every few days, but I'm only two months in. For OP, I use host gator with Wordpress installed (it's an option they give). You can then install Google Adsense which combs your site and allows you to click on a little icon to say where to place the ad. The rest is automatic. They even place them for the mobile site. Check my site on desktop, where I select the ad placement, and then on a smartphone or iPad, where they place them. Www.nonamom.com ... I used to use network solutions for a different type of site and you had to paste the code, which was much harder. The plug in on host gator does max you out at three ads per page, but you'll see mine often have the same ad in two locations, so it'd look worse if it was across 5 ads. I'm still learning...
