Looking for Feedback on a Topic....
« on: Jan 23, 2015 @ 11:51 AM »
Starting next week I am running a series now how to save on grocery shopping, without using coupons. Later on, in about another couple of months I will also follow this up with a coupon series, I just feel there are a number of strategies that need to be in place before you dive into couponing.

When it comes to how to's, and advice on things like saving money, do you prefer that it comes from a personal perspective with a lot of life lessons on the topic, or do you prefer just to know what to do and how to do it?

Also, looking at my blog (if you're able to) which do you think best matches my writing style? This is the first time I am doing a series that will be more than two posts, and I want to make sure it flows well both for the topic and my style. I am currently writing it, and realized I am working more from the "my experience" perspective than the "this is how to do it" style.

Any thoughts are very welcome. Thank you for all of the support, I love the Top Mommy Bloggers Community!

1) I LOVE this idea! So many times I have spent hours diligently cutting/storing coupons then hand them me or hubby leaves them at home or forgets to use them before they expire. Hubby especially. He hates coupons. He is all "Time is money"  and thinks it's a venture that is not worth the 50 cents. Sometimes I agree but still love it. I generally try to shop savvy w/out coupons so you struck a chord.

2) As for the voice of it, people read blogs for that personal touch. We want the info with the life lessons & photos. So YES- personal perspective w/lots of voice. That's why we're on your blog vs wiki-how! Throw in a bulleted list for those who want just the facts but blog posts thrive of a personal voice.

Thank you so much Karen, I really appreciate your help with this. This is my first foray into a real how to, that wasn't just me talking about more parenting type topics. I will definitely have to work on adding in some bullet points, but will keep the voice and flow the same as I was going with. Just a heads up too, in case you want to read the series, I try to post on Thursdays. I am trying to have this one written up ahead of time so it can post earlier in the day.

As of now, I typically end up posting just before midnight on Friday when my full time job, kids, and household chores get in the way. Hoping to get a head start from now on to be a little more consistent and than just posting "sometime" on Thursday.

Thank you again, you have built an amazing community with lots of heart. This is by far my favorite place for blogging tips and to get to know other bloggers. I have a few others I go to, but I have to admit I visit here the most.
